My first impression - this is very addicting and very challenging. I'm kind of glad there are only 5.5 SNGs while I try to figure this out.

I don't know anything about blackjack, but what's the difference between using one or six decks if they shuffle every hand?

These are good fun (you get to play every hand) and easy money. Hope the stakes go up soon.

In a single deck game you often have enough information from the cards seen to deviate from basic strategy. With six decks, that will almost never happen. Card counting, and even basic strategy aren't really much of a factor in BJ tournaments anyway.

Counting is a skill that UB might be encouraging within tournaments

Obviously you know nothing about BJ tournaments. BJ tournaments are not about playing basic strategy and card counting, they're about bet sizing. Regardless, it's 6 decks and they shuffle every hand.

Who says it has to be that way? Wouldn't it be an interesting wrinkle if counting could be part of tournament strategy as well?

Man this is fun. 4 people eliminated by hand 11, I win on hand 16.

They could change it to 16 hands instead of 30, and nothing would change.

I won my first tourney in Elimination Blackjack last night. 44 entrants in a $5.50 tourney - $77 first prize.

Also - I did win a $5.50 SNG in 8 hands. Really.

How long did it take?

I played several $5 and a couple of $1 STTs last night. Some were finished in 10 hands, some went the full round. But it seemed to me that the average STT is going to take about 30 minutes to complete. Does that seem about right?

I didn't really time it. SNGs probably go 30 to 40 minutes to completion - but it depends on the number of people that are alert.
