Steve,
Invariably buyouts are less then prize values in stuff like this. $15k seems pretty reasonable.

I dunno, maybe you guys are right, but it just doesn't seem right to me. It seems like they'd benefit a lot more from me just taking the money, so I don't see why I should get less than the value of the prize.

They dont get to plaster pictures of you with an M5 on their site, or say they gave you an M5 with a quote from you. They essentially lose the entire PR aspect of the promo (mainly their own fault) but they still lose it, hence the lower figure.

I'm surprised UB didn't offer a "Mystery Box" option..

"Car, cash...or the Mystery Box!"

I'm a finance broker and i'll get a deal like this from one of my clients. $1,800 a month is reasonable but BMW could probably do better, I would say $1,700 pm would be actual for anyone with sense. This is $20,400 pa.

Tell them to stuff it and pay for your car. or -10% of cost. See what they do then.

buyouts are generally less, because the cost is. for example, ub may have set up a deal with bmw where ub gets an m5 for a year at a reduced expense and bmw gets the advertising. if this is the case, 15k is fair. if, however, ub would have been paying full lease price than 15k is not fair.

ask ub if there was some kind of deal they had with bmw and then go for what is fair--equal to their projected cost.
