Default *** Official DI-FCS (I-AA) Football Thread ***

Just a thread for us FCS Football fan(s) to discuss the season.

So far we've already had some good games:
- Western Illinois over future Gateway member South Dakota State in the 4th OT.
- Non-schollie Drake scoring 27 2nd half points to beat Illinois State.
- Delaware (attempting to unseat JMU in the CAA South) starting off their season right with a win over W&M.

More interesting games/headlines are on the way:
- Some of the best of FCS take on some BCS top 25's. Montana State travels to #25 Texas A&M. Youngstown goes to #11 Ohio State. And 2 time defending FCS Champions and current FCS #1 Appalachian State travels to the Big House against #5 Michigan.
- Jerry Glanville makes his Portland State coaching debut against McNeese St.
- James Madison travels down to UNC and Butch Davis' return to the sidelines.
- Presbyterian makes their FCS debut against Furman
- Can't forget Northeastern vs. Northwestern. Awesome.

Yeah, that might wind up being a good game versus Holy Cross.

So far App State is keeping up with Michigan. YSU down by 2 TD's against Ohio State.

Sick. Michigan's entire season down the drain after their first game.

After this and UNH beating Northwestern last year, we're going to start to see D1 teams become very wary about looking for gimme games against D1-AA in their openers.

As a FCS fan I don't like admitting this but 90% of FCS teams don't belong on the same field as the BCS teams. You are going to continue to see blowouts. Louisville vs. Murray State on Thursday for example. Usually out of about 60-70 BCS vs. FCS games the FCS teams will win about 7-10 of them.

I think what is more likely is that the BCS teams are going to become wary of scheduling the top 10 or so FCS teams, but will still bring in teams from this subdivision for their "gimmes". FCS schools, even though they get blown out most of the time will still seek this matchups out for the money it brings the athletic programs.
