[ QUOTE ]
If you want to have a REALLY good time then: Rent classic Star Trek costumes. Go and pretend that you are on a away mission investigating the social traditions of a newly discovered planet. Make sure you make the tricoder and communicator noises all the time. [/ QUOTE ] Sounds dangerous... |

Re: Renaissance/Fantasy Faires
i went to my first ever renaissance faires, about a month ago. it was hilarious. it's fun to walk around and make fun of people. that's what me and my buddy do anyways, but there was plenty of ammo here.
this could be the only place where you will find D&D geeks, goths, and trailer trash harmoniously together. a lot of fried foods and yes, the big turkey legs. it was the first time i ever heard of or had a scotch egg, which is a hardboiled egg, dipped in some kind of batter then deep fried. tastes like an egg mcmuffin and was ridiculously good. a lot of cleavage. it is true. you will see some really ugly cleavage, but if you're trolling for high school trailer trash tail, the renaissance faire may be the best place after the county fair. a lot of really over priced crap made out of woods, puter and wax. $100 wooden mug!! $300 candle shaped like gandolf or dumbledore or merlin!!! dragons! lotsa dragons!! and swords!!! my only regret is that i didn't catch any of my seemingly normal friends there in a full minstrel outfit. i didn't think it would happen, but a tiny part of me really thought it might happen. i can now cross this off my list of things to do before i die, and never go back. |

[ QUOTE ] Sure, there are your usual geeks there that are really waaayy into it and all. [/ QUOTE ] You mean like the people in costumes? [/ QUOTE ] LOL. Hey, it's amazing the things a niece can get you to do. I drew the line when she wanted to use scottish accents. But yes, some are a bit too into it for my tastes, but for the most part, everyone's just having a good time. Even if they aren't dressed up. b |
