I too grew up in London & like DB miss the energy. Being able to go out any night of the week & see a great gig (often for free in a pub) or go to a nightclub for some obscure genre of music on a Tuesday night & get a 'night' bus home. Good times.

On the downside: the senseless unprovoked violence.

Mostly I miss youth itself as I had a great time running free in the woods most every day. Except when we had to work in the garden and stuff.

One location I kind of miss though would be 'the clay banks' which were about a mile away from our house. Not sure how far the drop was to the stream at the bottom or what the angle of the drop was but we used to run out into the air and see how far we could get down. Kind of like ski jumpers hitting the slope when we landed except it seemed to be much steeper than that. I remember when we got too big and strong for it and almost landed at the bottom. Any further and we would surely have gotten busted up pretty good.

I miss being in a neighborhood where there were all kinds of kids to play with. Any given day after school or all day during the summer we would all be over at someones house playing backyard football, baseball, first bounce or fly, marbles in the street gutters, ok really anything we could think up or do. Parents could pretty much just holler for their kids when it was dinner time and after dinner it would start up again until dark.

There are lots of other things I miss from time to time but this one just hit me.

I do not miss all the crazy ass stuff I had to go through with my mom (Bi-Polar)

I miss childhood. I remember hunting for toads and running through the cornfields. I miss the raspberry bushes too.

I remember playing with my sisters and neighbors in the evening until well past dark. We would shoot baskets or play manhunt when we were young and when we got older we would play euchre on the neighbor's deck and we would always take a break to go inside and make smoothies. Those were great summers back then.

This weekend I mentioned to one of my friends how we used to have lots of red wing blackbirds and blue jays where I grew up. I miss seeing them.

Im a New Zealander and have just moved to England. The one thing i miss the most from home was a lookout that over looked my whole province. On good day you could see right from the sea right along to 3 different mountain ranges and half way up the north island.
Also the people. People back home are allot wamer and generally more friendly.

I miss 24 hour supermarkets. A lot.

I don't miss not being able to see the stars. I used to have to travel at least an hour outside of the city to see a single star.

I also miss being able to do stuff. I know that sounds pretty vague, but where I live, the only kinds of plays they run feature Jesus, there's almost no live music (and you don't want to hear what they do have), you can't ride a bike, and the longest running path is only about 4 miles and is crowded during daylight hours.

I miss good bookstores. Those were disappearing fast, though, when I left.

I really, really, really miss Waffle House.
