If there's any chance one of them has a better made hand (and it seems a bit optimistic to discount it altogether) then this is the easiest fold ever.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is good advice if you hate money.

"If there's any chance" is play that leads to w/t play, and leads to you losing money.

This is a push.

Would you care to explain why this is a certain push then?

Hero led out with a pot sized bet in an unraised pot then was raised and then check raised by the sb. Our equity plummets if there's even a 20% chance someone has a better made hand and how can that not be the case here?

Let's say we lose EVERY time that 20% chance happens.

So, reduce our equity by 20%, from 50 to 40%. (20% off 50% is 40%).

Three players, all in for the same amount of money, and you're 40% to triple up? (hypothetically) You need to be 33.5% for that to be a good play.

Yep. Shove.

i'm surprised that so many people are in favor of folding here. higher two/set were certainly possible, but i decided that they were at the top of a fairly large range. like i said b/f i had the button on a fd (possibly w/a gutshot) b/c he almost always slowplays his big hands, so if he had a higher two/set i'm pretty confident he would have just called. i was a little concerned that sb may have J2/J5, but again i think he could make this same move a bare J regardless of the kicker. anyway, i pushed for a lot of the reasons all ready mentioned, but also b/c of my image. i'd been playing laggy and thought i could get called down by a J who thought i was just being a lagtard.

ok, so let me modify the scenario a little. background info is the same. let's say the sb check raises all-in. i'd be inclined to fold, but is it an auto fold?
