Default Rubik\'s Cube

So I finally figured out how to solve the rubik's cube in semi-decent time but I do it all through memorization of patterns instead of actually learning how to solve it. Can anyone else here do it fast? If so do you have any good websites that can teach me to learn to how solve it instead of just memorize patterns?

What do you mean by "learn how to solve" vs "just memorize patterns"? Wikibooks has a good article on it, they describe a very basic method. My best time is 1:09 so far (average about 1:25), I only know the wikibooks method. Too busy/lazy to learn F2L atm.

I can solve it in about 1:30 usually.

it's really all about patterns no matter how you look at it..to learn how to do it fast, you just find shortcuts that depend on specific positions, rather than a more general position that you use for the regular patterns..

I think it's mostly lack of dexterity and not knowing finger tricks.

The F2L estimates I've seen say a 17 second solution takes 4 seconds to make the first cross. I normally take 15. It's because I only look at the cube one step at a time (there's no point in trying to remember all the steps together since I only know the stupid method). You probably know a better solving method and have a lot more experience (I only started this a month ago), so you're probably a lot more dexterous with the thing and can see several steps at once.

Keep in mind, the Wikibooks method only requires you to memorize 3 complex moves, and 2 simple moves. F2L, which reduces the 5 steps into 3, requires you memorize like 70 algorithms.

Gad damn, I was looking at people doing it on YouTube and its [censored] nuts. They are doing it in 10 seconds. The best part is they look at it for 2-3 seconds so they move those little fingers so freaking quickly. NUTS
