Default Card protectors

I'd like to get opinions on card protectors. What's cool and what is not cool?

I have seen two that I rate as uncool, a cellphone (off I think or the guy doesn't have friends) and a computer mouse with the cord cut off.

Sometimes in home games, I use a 3 inch tall Stanley Cup replica with the Ottawa Senators logo. I think it's a bit cheesy but what the hey.

The round discs that you can buy online (like a metal dealer's button with some logo) seem to be a little too common for my liking.

I really like Greg Raymer's piece of fossil that he uses. That seems to be a bit more imaginative.

Any comments?

I use an old Dunes chip (same one as my avatar). It is oversized, as it is a Baccarat chip, and is in a plastic case. Works for me. It serves its purpose, and that is it.

I think that obnoxious or big 3D ones are kind of dorky. I have seen women use little mini neanie babies, and I kind of rolled my eyes.

Whatever floats your boat, IMO. Mine is simple and small, and like I said, it serves its purpose.

Whatever you want. Old coins(you can buy roman coins, US, etc...online) Hot wheels car, Old crap you have laying around thats cool. Vintage poker chips search online or goto chiptalk.com.

I use one of my $100 Tangiers chips sometimes.
Look through your junk drawer I have tons of cool crap I dont use anymore that can double for a chip guard. use your imagination.

I used the hot wheels car once and would do a victory lap around EVERY pot I won.

God I'm annoying...
But I had some players playing like crap against me after awhile.

when I see card protectors I immediately see a player who at least thinks they know what they are doing; which to me is a great tip off.

It is like wearing a t-shirt that says, "i play B&M poker regularly", or "I play X hours of online poker a week".

Not really sure why you would want to advertise or celebrate that.

Just my opinion tho'.

I've always just used a random chip from my stack. I never have to worry about remembering to bring it or forgetting it at the table when I leave.

Just use a chip. Card protectors are LAME IMO. The last thing I want to see when playing 2/4 for kicks at the casino is some guy who takes an extra 10 seconds anytime he has to place/look/remove to see his cards.

I used to use foreign coins, but gave up on it. Really there's not much point in using anything other than a random chip from your stack. You can't lose it (in the sense of misplacing it) and nobody gives you grief.
