I saw a show about Chris Farley and he had lots of girls interested in him, but he was so self-conscious about his weight and himself that he turned them all down and restricted himself to hookers. He would say how much he wanted a girlfriend but would never follow through with anyone.

As a point of reference - I had a friend who worked on an independent film, so independent that one of the stars was Macaulay Culkin's older brother from Home Alone (Buzz). Apparently he got laid and pulled down a few BJ's from cast & crew.
