Default Iconsistencies in B & M rooms

I haven't seen this posted before, but I was wondering why the rules are never the same from one B & M card room to the next. I think it would be easier if their were one set of rules, just like you do in sports.

Things like showing your hand heads up, cash on the tables, changing tables with/without having to start back with max buy-in, accidentaly mucked hands, etc.

I think it may be confusing to players when playing from one room to the next. Obviously the casino can make up whatever rules they want, but since we play a universal game, why isn't the rules equally universal?

The short answer is if everyone in the world would agree to let me write the rules that would be fine. Otherwise I have no interest in someone on the other side of the country telling me how to run my room.

Additionally, gambling is state-regulated, and different states have different rules

(two notables would be the rake-rules in California and straddling in New Jersey). Also game limitations such as those in Colorado and Florida.

And RR - based on the rulings I've seen you make here, you get my vote for getting to write that rule book.

Eh, I like different rules about the inconsequential things. Even different betting rules. There are different forms of poker, and the rule discrepancies merely add more variation. View them as a challenge to adjust your game.

But then, I'm not one who shops in Wal-Mart or eats at chain restaurants, either. The world is becoming so watered down, viva la differance!

I've played in some rooms where it wasn't a matter of what rules were in place as much as whether they were enforced by anybody. Or to have one floor person make a ruling only to have one on the next shift make a completely different ruling on the same situation.

Iconsistencies within the same room are what I find most irriating. There is no excuse for one floor manager to make one floor ruling and another to make a totally different one. The players should at least know what to expect before walking into a given room. If they are inconsistent amongst themselves then it just shows that they dont have a clue and dont really care. A new poker room opened up in my area and they don't have the first clue. I don't care so much what the rule is, just don't suprise me or leave me guessing.
