Default Dan Harrington. Justified stiff?

I have it on good record that upon winning $1.6 million at the Legends recently Dan Harrington did not tip the tournament personnel 1c. However, in his defense from what I understand this is the first year the Legends took 3% out of the prize pool for this purpose, so I guess in theory he tipped 3%. Given this, is this a justified course of action, or is "Action" Dan just a cheap bastard?

However, I also heard that he tipped each of the two security guards that walked him to his car w/ his $1.6M check $1 each. IMHO, this is ridiculously cheap and frankly offensive. I think in his position I would have tipped AT LEAST $20. I mean, seriously, why even bother tipping if you are just gonna tip $1?

i was planning on stiffing them had i won. the rake was ridiculous and the tournament sub-standardly ran.

*edit* i found the main workers in the poker room very friendly and helpful

If Dan didn't want to tip, that's his perogative. Gratuity isn't required. It's not like the dealers are paid like waiters where tips are an intergral part of their wage. Just because someone hit it big doesn't mean that he has to grease everybody in his proximity.

3% is a fine tip and I for one wouldn't add anything on top of that even if I thought the tournament was ran very well.

And yes Dan is cheap.

All the dealers who post on here whining about cheap players are beyond pathetic. Even the best MTT pro has only a few percentage points edge on the game after tourney fees. Pros can't afford to give away any % of their winnings. Some of them might think they can afford it, but if they knew the truth about their edge they wouldn't do it.

It's a check(for 1.6 million!), is somebody going to steal it and run to the nearest cashing place? They did probably 5 minutes of escorting (aka walking).

The star of the last thread about someone not tipping has been doomswitched ever since. Harrington better beware.
