In DC I paid like $2200 for a crappy two bedroom apartment in a rat-infested building in a decent but not great spot in the city. Now I'm paying $775 for a place with more square footage in a better part of the city. I don't really get it.

Nath, you're welcome to stop by if you ever end up in Missouri for some reason.

Goofy, for a 650 sq ft apartment, I pay $415 a month and that includes water and gas, I only pay for electric, which is like $70 a month.

Actually I'm not sure how big my apt is, it might be around the same size. I measured out the living room and it's 13' by 17', bedroom is prob around the same size, plus small kitchen/dining room/bathroom.

Wow. Where is that at? I pay approx 270$ for my 11 sq meter room. But; I don't have a clue about ft/meter. Isn't a meter 3 ft or sth?

It's in Ohio in the ghetto (I guess?) part of a decent-sized town.

It's expensive to live alone. Did it in Folsom (near Sacramento) where I paid $850 /mo. for a 805 sq/ft apt. Did it in Santa Barbara for a smaller place where I paid $1200 /mo. Now paying $650 /mo for a room in a 2500 sq/ft place with a giant back yard in SF with 4 other guys. A little frat-housey, but lots of fun.

The other spot I looked at in SF was $1650 /mo for a 1 bd - 650 sq/ft place which was a STEAL.
