Default The Dragon could take POY lead?

Just curious to know what place would David Pham have to come in at Legends to overtake JC Tran?

I posted this in the Cardplayer updates thread:

[ QUOTE ]
This final table has 2 candidates for POY at the FT with decent chipstacks:

David Pham is in 2nd in the POY standings trailing J.C. Tran by 748 points. It is his 10th FT of the year

Tom Schneider is in 12th in the POY standings after having 2 wins and 1 4th at WSOP. He is 1,626 points behind Tran.

If I read the formulas correctly, first place will be 1,920 points, 2nd 1,600 points, 3rd 1,280 points, 4th 960, 5th 800, 6th 640, 7th 480, 8th 320, 9th 160.

so if David finishes 5th or better of Tom wins there will be a new POY leader.

[/ QUOTE ]

This was before anyone got eliminated yesterday. David is the shortstack in 6th and Tom has a huge stack in 1st. If David finishes 4th or 5th he will overtake JC, however if Tom finishes 1st he overtakes both JC and David (as the spread between 1st and 4th/5th is greater than the 878 separating Tom and David). If David finishes 3rd he is guaranteed 1st regardless of what Tom does.

Even if Tom wins, there is no way he wins POY. JC and David play too many tournaments. Those crazy viet people.

Blinds will be 20/40K(5K) to start off
Chip counts for the final table tonight:

Seat 1 - Shi jia Liu - 1,305,000
Seat 2 - Dan Harrington - 2,230,000
Seat 3 - Tom Schneider - 3,495,000
Seat 4 - Thu Nguyen - 1,475,000
Seat 5 - David 'The Dragon' Pham - 470,000
Seat 6 - Mike McClain - 725,000

gl surviving, he needs 2 doubles to have a shot at it.

Oh and 1st is $1.6mill

How sick is the Dragon? He's the chip leader now. Is it his reading ability or just crazy aggressiveness is paying off?

Schneider's out in 4th . Harrington now has chip lead, Pham 2nd and Nguyen 3rd. Pham will be the new CP POY leader.

Spoke too soon Nguyen out in 3rd. Phan has $5.4M to $4.0M chip lead over Harrington.

he does seem aggressive...just not crazy aggressive.

Thing is he does have good reads...he's been known to call and win with ace high.
