Default PostgreSQL running multiple processes

I have a limited account (poker account) on windows xp which utilizes postgre when running:

poker tracker
spade eye

for some reason i have multiple postgre processes, and the older ones seem to get more and more memory heavy as time goes on, so much so that i have to reboot my computer.

does anyone know why this is?

i can't terminate the processes manually as i'm on a limited account.

i give both PT and spade eye "administration" permisssions, so they should be able to terminate the processes on their own, but they don't.

any ideas? this is driving me crazy. it puts my comp almost to a grinding halt with 1gb ram & p4 processor

Multiple processes are normal a normal occurrence. Try to "Vacuum Full/Analyze" regularly if you don't already, it improves the performance. Don't forget you have to do this for each database. Inside PT you can find this operation under "Utilities>PostgreSQL Database Functions".
