This classic Zappa may not be the "best" but it sure got my attention, in a good way.

Dr. John and The Meters had a nice appearance in '77 or so. Seems like yeaterday. Sigh.

I remember being blown away by The Sugarcubes. Never heard anything like it.

How ya'll like that?

It's a great song, but flav just goes off.

Other nominations off the top of my head are Elvis Costello, The Specials, Nirvana and The Pogues.

Others?

Tuco.

Pogues

The Specials

After watching The Specials again it might be the best. The guitar riff 1/3 of the way in is incredible.

Nirvana

then elvis costellor runs out on stage, and stops them, then then bust into radio radio.

So this was totally staged by Lorne I assume.
All was forgiven and it was finally determined that this song was okay for TV.

Regardless of higher network paranoia at that time which he had to cater to it was pretty retarded that he wouldn't let Costello sing that song in the first place.

Also - The SugarCubes is a good nomination. Love it.
