Default \"Hard Candy\"

Has anyone seen the movie "Hard Candy"? It's a bizarre and disturbing film involving pedophilia, sexual mutilation, and murder. Not sure if I would recommend seeing it but it cetainly does keep your attention for 2 hours.

I like hard candy. Especially those little pacifiers that are different colors. Those are the best. There's a store near my place that sells like 5 pounds of candy for 5 dollars.

I kinda wanna see this flick but I'm way to embarrassed to be seen walking into the movie theatre. Definitely a Netflix flick.

Default Saw the flick last night

OK, first of all, there is no pedophilia in the movie. It does involve a chomo though.

The first 15 minutes of the flick comprise the most uncomfortable and sleazy movie sequence I've seen in a long time. After that the movie turns into your basic psychological thriller. I say "basic" but the movie does what it does very well. The symbolism throughout was not subtle, but at the same time it wasn't so obvious that you felt like the film makers were being condescending. There is only one socially acceptable ending to the flick and you will probably figure it out early in the film. Despite the predictability, this is a great flick. Like Diablo noted in his review of Brick, there is one totally unecessary story line involving Sandra Oh. Fortunately it doesn't take anything away from the flick unless you're a nit like me. My other small nit is that at a few points in the film, I was forced suspend my disbelief more than I thought necessary.
