This considered an angle shoot or a bluff?

I'll do my best without a converter, but i'm curious if anyone has seen this before as I can't decide if it was an angle shoot or just a sick bluff.

1/2NL at Borg

Two players are heads up on a flop of 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
Tight Old Guy bets out about $15, and solid player raises to $50.
Both players have around $300 or so behind at this point.
Turn is 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
Tight Old Guy checks, and Solid Player Bets $100
Tight Old Guy quickly says, "I call, I have a Straight" and starts to turn over his hand.
Dealer stops him and explains, there's one card left to come.
River is a blank
Tight Old Guy shrugs and says "I guess I'm all in then"
Solid Player mucks set of 6's face up and Tight Old Guy shows him King High and rakes the pot.

Is this Kosher? I'm not really sure how I feel about this

really? It's an angle shoot. Am I not supposed to lie about my hand? It's poker right? I can't say "I have a straight"? I seriously didn't know that. I play live 1-2 nites a week at NL tables and I see this all the time. I've def. seen people who were proved to be lying about it and nobody has ever said a peep. Usually, it's just kinda laughed about for a while.

It used to be considered rude to talk about your own hand period (whether you are lying or not).

The reason you see that is that the new wave of players features a lot of WPT wannabe's that are new to the game, usually they are young and dont mind being rude.

It's also probally common in home games.

I would never do this, but I don't know if I consider this an angle shoot. I think this boils down to lying about your hand while hu.

I call it a bluff/table talk. I don't consider it angling unless your lying about your hand at showdown.

I think this is almost an angleshot, lots of people do this, its part of the game.

Right.. I've seen people "miscall" a straight before at showdown, when in fact I think they knew they didn't have it and were hoping they would get shoved the pot anyway. Once, I'm pretty sure it was a deliberate attempt to cheat, just because of the player involved. I wasn't involved in the hand, but I quickly spoke up as the dealer's hands reached to push him the pot "no, you don't have the straight". I did this mainly because I didn't like the guy pulling such a douchey move.

That being said, I think there is zero wrong with the villian in the OPs play. I see this all the time.

Not an angle. An angle involves doing something that is 'almost illegal'.

Good enough to go all in on the real river, but not check-raise all-in on the 'mistaken river'? And his opponent didn't smell a rat?

So the old guy risked $300 to win $200 with a 4-card straight on the board?
