Re: Titles

Ryan, On some of the forums I've been on that run vb software, users had the capacity to set their own custom titles [/ QUOTE ] This is still something I'm considering and need to discuss more with a few others. Obviously there will be default titles regardless, so I'm going to treat that as a separate matter. |

Ryan, On some of the forums I've been on that run vb software, users had the capacity to set their own custom titles after like...100 posts. While obviously a slight moderation nightmare, this does let us use the loc field to actually share a location and might eliminate some of the other goofy crap that comes with custom titles. In terms of some scale. I only pray it isn't poker related. [/ QUOTE ] As long as I get to be "BBV Chaplain", I'm cool with anything. |

[/ QUOTE ] Users already control avatar and location fields. It is nice to have this field be a place for official designations, like technologic "2006 WSOP ME Final Tabler" or Matt Flynn "Co-Author of PNL." The vast majority, of course, are monikers earned in the various forums, but that's fun, and the real value there is that they were assigned, not chosen. |

The only thing that might be "broke" is that as a mod we get pestered a lot for custom titles and that gets old. |

Re: Titles
Teh Sandwich Artist Formerly Known As AngryCola,
I think given the "creativity level" of some folks on this site, allowing people to customize their titles is a bad idea. They already have the Loc: field as it is. Also, undertitles being a carrot you can dangle to reward good posters is a somewhat valuable tool to have. |
