Why did you raise? What was the Plan?

Re: 50 PL 2-7; re-raised PF
Raise was good, hero has position and probably a better hand. After the 3 bet, fold. He is probably either pat with a better hand than you're drawing to or has a 1 card wheel draw. You won't be able to call after the 1st draw if you miss and you will probably still be behind if you hit.

Why did you raise? What was the Plan? [/ QUOTE ] 4-card 8 in position is very good. It ain't smooth, but it's pretty good. I raised figuring I would get this heads-up, based on previous experience at 50 PL (I know nothing about these players). Then I would draw 1 to 8752 and probably take it down after the first draw with a pot-sized bet. If two players had called, probably the same thing. However a draw to 752 is possible too, depending on how many the others drew. If they're idiots and draw 3-4 then I can comfortably draw 2. With a bigger field, I'd draw to 752. |

[/ QUOTE ] Sounds like a plan, and you do have it heads up. The problem is that you've been re-raised, and it's the first orbit so you don't know what the raise means. If I called in this situation, I'd be tempted to draw one against a pat, and draw 2 against a 1-card draw, figuring that a 1-card draw was to a 7, but that a pat could be anything. But what I would probably do is always draw two, thinking that raising and then drawing two would be good for the game. Going back to your original raise, I don't think you have the right hand for it in a pot limit game. 8s will just get you broke in big-bet TD (and in single-draw for that matter): I think it's best to play a small pot with them. |

Re: 50 PL 2-7; re-raised PF
i really think in a pot limit game 8s will get you in big trouble and in this specific situation he can actually have anything and your hand can be very vulnerable especially if he hits something, and if he stays pat you may even draw dead (if you draw one)...
just my 2 cents |
