Eaves got blown up.

NHL needs to institute the same type of policy that the NFL has with regards to hits to the head on QBs. No matter if its a shoulder or an elbow or a forearm, it needs to be penalized.

Can't wait to hear Murray lisp after the game about how it needs to be a penalty considering that was the same type shoulder to the head hit Neil put on Drury a few months back. Maybe he should tell his guys to buckle their chin straps tighter like he did to Drury.

It's so stupid that those hits are legal in the NHL.

For those that say taking a stance against hits to the head will decrease hitting, I've heard the juniors are doing just fine and are just as physical as they were before the rule was introduced.

I have a question about the NHL playoff format.

I saw on the bottom of some screens during coverage that says all teams will be reseeded after the first round? WTF does this mean?

Does that mean that if Buffalo beats NYI and the Lightning beat the Devils that Buffalo gets to play the Lightning INSTEAD of the winner of the PITT/Ottawa series?

If that is true that is a bunch of BS.

Sorry if this is a long standing NHL playoff rule. This is the first year I've really followed the NHL playoffs.

Correct. Sabres would play the lowest seed remaining.

Is this a new rules or has this been around? It seems pretty dumb to me but then again I'm a big fan of the NCAA tournament format. Do they do this in the NBA too?

The 1998-99 season also brought forth a re-seeding of conference playoff matchups after the first round, as well as a third division in each conference.

as far as i can remember this is standard. and it certainly makes a lot of sense - i believe the NBA doesn't do it.

1st place already barely conferrs with it any advantage and you want to take away the last good thing about it?

as for eaves-armstrong - it's a legal hit, and it should stay that way. football's a totally different game and should not be the basis of comparison.
