Mexicans Finish Strong [also semis]
Canadian favourite Runa Reta and Mexico's No2 seed Eric Galvez clinched the titles in the Quito Open Championships after straight games successes in the finals at the El Condada club, 2 miles high in the Ecuador capital.

For the two Mexcians, Eric Galvez and Jose Angel Becerril, they were playing in the familiar environment of high elevation and put on a show appropriate to the strong Mexican squash heritage.

Reta, 24, from Ottawa, was looking for her maiden title after finishing as runner-up in two WISPA World Tour events last year. Her opponent Jenna Gates, however, was celebrating her first time in a Tour climax.

The Canadian took control from the outset against Gates, the 19-year-old British junior champion from Sussex, winning 9-4 9-2 9-5 in 28 minutes to claim her first WISPA title.

Third seed Jose Angel Becerril was after revenge in the men's final after losing to his Mexican compatriot Galvez in June's Queretaro Open in their home country.

But Galvez, the 21-year-old Mexican No1 from Puebla, was too strong for his 20-year-old opponent, and took 33 minutes to secure his 11-4 11-6 11-5 victory.

The success, in Galvez's second PSA Tour final appearance in a month, marked the third title of his career.

RESULTS: Quito Open Squash Championship, Quito, Ecuador

Men's final:
[2] Eric Galvez (MEX) bt [3] Jose Angel Becerril (MEX) 11-4, 11-6, 11-5 (33m)

Women's final:
