Are they still going on about Aaron being there? Trying to put that to rest w/ his interview at the all-star game was one of the classier things I've ever seen Bonds do.

[/ QUOTE ]

They are still saying Aaron won't be there because of steroids. Even though I have seen interviews of Aaron saying he won't be there because it's Bond's day in the sun not his. Which could be a lie for all I know but ESPN is making it seem like Aaron has publicly passed judgment on Bonds.

I missed the All Star interview, cliff notes?

Because it's the biggest event that has occurred during his reign as commissioner.

He just said something along the lines of "Aaron has a life and it wouldn't be fair to expect him to follow us around for as long as it takes to break the record."

/edit When asked about Selig he said something like "I don't know what the commissioner does, its up to him to decide whether or not he should be there." which I thought was pretty funny.

Is this really that big of an event?

I'm a decent baseball fan, but just really cannot get into this at all. I usually turn off things when Bonds is on the tube. It seems like more of a sideshow than anything.

While the Bonds/'roids aspect of it has turned it into a bit of a side show and some fans feel a bit jaded about the whole thing, it's still the most revered record in sports.

It's only the most significant record in sports; so yea, people shouldn't make a big deal.

Bud should be there. He's 1/2 the reason the players are taking steroids. He didn't do his job 10 years ago, and now we are facing the results of that. If you are willing to open a can of worms, you should be willing it eat it.
