trips against paired door card
Hand is unraised on third, hero has 669 call the bring in and get trips, however a guy paired his 8 door card and leads out, no other eights apparent, what do you do? R-C-F

What if he continues to bet do you just call him down. I've been so wrapped aorund this situation a raise tells you if he has it or not, but if not he prob folds and you don't get paid. Also if slick, he can smooth call then I pay him off for the next three rounds, lol.

Yeah pretty much. It's like HE where you're way ahead or way behind, but this being stud, you're not terribly behind. You lose the least possible when you're behind, or you let your opponent bet off a bunch his chips when you're ahead.

I raise once on 5th street, and then call down if reraised, especially if my trips are hidden.
If someone had completed on 3rd street and this guy still bets out, I may be less aggressive, but this is so often a case of 2 pair (or even pair+flush draw or pair+straight draw) that it is profitable in the long run. Hidden trips is such a powerful hand. When you raise (especially if you wait a street), villain will have trouble putting you on a hand. |
