Barroom faux pas?

Some of you might tease me about this, due to my nickname here, but WTF...

Was drinking in my local bar tonight, when this gentleman started a conversation. He asked me about my youth, etc, and damned if he didn't grow up in the same area as me! Then he offers to buy me a shot.

At this point, I'm wondering as to his motives. I wasn't looking to get picked up, and I didn't want to be a "prick tease," drinking this guy's booze then failing to put out.

So, shortly after he ordered the shots, I said something to the effect of: "I'm basically the world's most non-judgemntal guy, but if you have an ulterior motive, you're probably wasting your time."

Well, he gets really offended, and now I feel like a prick for insulting someone just trying to be a nice guy. How OUGHT have I handled this?

I don't understand why you would think this guy is coming on to you. Even if you did think this I don't know why you wouldn't take the shot anyways.

Be reasonable. Never in the history of one guy meeting another guy and having something in common and looking to get fkd up has he bought the other guy a shot. Clearly the stranger was planning to buttsecks the OP.

Well...he INSISTED that I pick the shot (I've always been of the opinion the the buyer chooses) but when I mentioned Beam, he opined that I might prefer Jagr.... [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
