I flew out of Amsterdam's Schipol airport this summer so spent a night there and did a brief tour of the Red Light district. The hookers looked to be of decent quality, looks-wise, though I didn't sample the merchandise. For some reason, banging a hooker who's probably had 5 other guys sweating on her that same day never appealed to me.
I was impressed with Dutch tv in the motel- there was actual hard, hard core porn at the freaking Best Western motel that you didn't have to pay extra for, there were call in sex shows on regular Dutch tv, and they don't even dub the tv programs and movies from the US- just Dutch subtitles at the bottom. No wonder everyone speaks English so well there- there's almost as much English spoken on their tv as here. And the Dutch have their sh*t together when it comes to airport security- it was much tighter on the return flight to the US than it was on the way over. They give everyone a personal interview/interrogation prior to flying and they gave the Arabs on my flight particular attention, including having a second person approach them later to ask the same questions again and compare the answers. Everybody got frisked as well, though the Arabs got a more thorough one. Didn't jive with my impression of the Dutch as being hyper-politically correct people at all. And oh yeah - there's a casino in the airport, though the poker tables weren't active, just blackjack. The Netherlands definitely seemed cool to me on my quick impression.

Yes, the Netherlands is "cool"; places like Gronigen and Den Haag are amazing and about 1/2 the price of Amsterdam. www.mushmemoirs.blogspot.com

[/ QUOTE ] The extra security is only for flights to the US. Most airports have extra security if your flying to the US, but I agree that Amsterdam is extra tight. The Blackjack-table sucks, dealer wins when you should push.
