Favorite Classical song? audio neccesary

This is one of those questions that simply cannot be answered with a single piece of music. Further, there are so many symphonies, concertos and operas that are awesome as complete works, but the bits and pieces aren't always equally great individually. So I'm limiting this to shorter pieces, a few of my favorites.

Stanley Meyers - Cavatina From the Deer Hunter soundtrack, and I love it.

Vocalise - Rachmaninoff So different from much of his other work, soft and gentle.

Debussy - Clair de Lune Gentle and powerful at the same time. I tend to prefer the "lighter" classical sound of guys like Debussy so this one really does it for me.

I've never been much of a New World fan, though I appreciate how Williams lifted the "duh duh.... duh duh...." for Jaws from it. He went somewhere else with it, but stole two of the most memorable chords in music. Jaws, and "Satisfaction" are the only two songs I can think of that a typical person can identify by 2 notes. If a new listener heard that part of New World, they'd immediately think of Jaws.

Instead, I'll offer up some more Dvorak. Op. 22 Serenade for Strings in Eb Major - I link to 2 things because the "crappy commercial" one plays a part near the beginning of the piece, and the next link is a later but complete movement. It'll give a good sense for what it has to offer.

And everyone knows Canon in D by Pachelbel. Start listening around 1:45 of that link to hear where the recognizable part of it begins. Or, well, listen to the whole thing. I doubt that this is new to anyone, though. Even the new guitar versions are good (search for JerryC or funtwo if you don't know what I'm talking about).

Written for solo piano, these pieces are some of the most elegiac ever set to paper. The links above give you an opportunity to hear many interpretations……..

I forgot to bring a CD to my chiropractor's office today and I asked if he had any classical music (this thread has really peaked my interest) and one of them was Pachelbel, which of course made me think "cannon in D" - beautiful song. The other was a "Greatest hits of Mozart", only got through about 4 songs, but loved them all.
