Usually a bad idea unless you are at an upper scale restaurant. Most are clueless and/or will try to upsell you on the wine.

Order a mojito - its a refreshing rum based drink with crushed mint leaves, very sophisticated.

Pronounced Moh-jee-two.

[/ QUOTE ]

Just tried my first mojito a week ago... I love the aftertaste.

Mojitos are definitely good as far as girly drinks go.

Seriously though, Bourbon is the way to go. Start out mixing it half and half with water, then slowly decrease the amount of water as you get used to the taste. It's very mellow, and makes for the perfect social drink, as it doesn't fill you up like beer and you feel much better the next morning compared to hammering down beers all night.

I like the standard "good" brands like Makers Mark or Knob Creek, and for budget drinking (i.e. around the house when there's no one to impress) I go for Wellers.

A decent beer is fine... mixed drinks are for girly-men. Sam Adams or Heineken or Amstel Light or something quality IMO. The only acceptable mixed drink is a James Bond style martini and unless you're supercool you can't pull that one off.

[/ QUOTE ]

Is this a joke or do you really consider jack and coke, rum and coke, gin and tonic, etc. girly drinks?

[/ QUOTE ]

As a bartender, I personally consider jack/rum/whatever and coke to be girly. Or at least college freshman type amateur-drinker drinks.

As a drinker I consider you to be a [censored] bar tender.

[ QUOTE ]

As far as OP goes, my vote is for a nice vodka on the rocks. It's kind of hardcore and says you know how to drink, but not in a "look at me drinking 19 year old scotch" kind of showoffy way.

[/ QUOTE ]

And a douche bag.
