Re: Ever Laughed from a Car Accident?
I am leaving a dinner birhtday party in high school and am riding with 4 of my friends, one of which is Melissa the driver. Melissa is flustered right now because there is some guy drama in her life so she is acting irrational. As we drive through town she starts text messaging as she is driving. My friend Tony mentions that cell phones cause a lot of accidents especially when people try and text message. Sure enough 15 seconds later she approaches a red light with about 10 cars in her lane stopped at the intersection and she has her eyes glued on her phone. We run into the back of a jetta going about 20 mph and bounce back and hit the bumper again because she still had her foot on the gas. We all get out of the car and check the damage. The jetta doesn't have a scratch but her car has a busted radiator that is leaking fluid, body damage, and smoke coming from the engine.
After the whole situation was dealt with we laughed about it for a month. |

ABSOLUTELY.... My roomate was driving his grandfathers car to his house as they were selling it...he pulls into his neighbors frive way to turn around and park... ...the brakes go!!! and he crashes through there garage door, tears through the garage and into there front wall causing 13k damage.. [/ QUOTE ] I stand corrected. Obviously, this "no brakes" delusion doesn't just happen to old ladies. |

Re: Ever Laughed from a Car Accident?
In fact, I just laughed at a wreck the other day. I was coming home from work and saw a couple of cop cars with their lights on up ahead in the median. As I get closer I see that a driver's ed car has smashed into the back of a cop car. Two other cops were standing at the scene pretty much laughing themselves, as well as a rather embarassed teenager and his co-students and the instructor, who was laughing it up with the cops. Obviously it wasn't a very serious incident, or it'd not be nearly as funny.

Re: Ever Laughed from a Car Accident?
From what I've read, the driver stomping on the gas, thinking they're on the brake, is a fairly common occurrence. Old ladies are probably the most common drivers in this scenario, but not the only ones. The drivers will typically swear they hit the brake, and the car mysteriously took off. It seems that, for some drivers, anyway, the idea that they hit the wrong pedal just never enters their mind, and the faster the car goes, the harder they push on the "brake" pedal that's really the gas pedal.

Great composition in that skid marks/wreck/rainbow pic.
Just needs to be cropped a little: |
