The only thing I don't like about these is that Fink doesn't do AFC rankings too. I'm glad these are back and I hope you don't get the same [censored] you got last year. Maybe people will understand the criteria you've laid out.

Fink only does NFC teams b/c his favorite team is NFC and he knows more about the NFC, I think I asked him last year.

Based on your criteria I think SF should be higher than Sea, they have added a lot of talent as you noted, and have a very easy schedule again as you noted. I expect them to win the division.

Welcome to the wonderful world of DirecTv Sunday Ticket Fink. You will love every minute of it and will be able to watch more varsity, I mean AFC games.

As for my rankings of the NFC (I'll just put mine in order instead of by division)

1.Bears: Your right the special teams will not be as good, though not because of stats, but because of personel changes. Last year the Bears had alot of veteran special teams players that really played no other positions, this year they will be relying on younger players. Of course as long as they lay some blocks for Devin Hestor it's not going to be that big of an issue.

I think the toughest thing for Grossman will be handling the Chicago media. They are already riding him for his third preseason game performance where he threw for 211 yards and 2 TDs and the team put up 31 points just because he threw *gasp* an INT. As long he stays in the offense and keeps the dragon in check and only goes deep a few times a game they will be fine.

2.Eagles Right now I'm giving this spot to the Eagles. They have a good offense and McNabb looks like he understands his limitations. Will Westbrook stay healthy? Who goes to a specialist for a "high ankle sprain"?

I still think the Eagles defense is in decline and at best will finish in the middle of the pack. But right now McNabb>>>Romo.

3.Cowboys- Tony Romo is the big question mark. If he is bad the Cowboys are in trouble. Besides him they are just about average everywhere else. Which in the NFC puts you near the top. Wade Phillips has been a really bad head coach in the past. It will be interesting to see how the Cowboys handle his mistakes.

4.Panthers I like the Panthers this year. Their defense should be the best in that divison. They should be able to run the ball with a pretty easy run defense schedule and if they can do that it should relax some of the pressure on Delhomme and make the Panthers a viable team once again.

5.Saints: Alright, I don't like the Saints. Their offense will be good, but I think they will miss Joe Horn in some key spots. Also I think Sean Peyton reads too many of his own press clippings and outsmarts himself. The defensive line is going to regress. The linebackers are small and slow. Their secondary will get beat deep even more often this year if they can't get pressure.

6.Seahawks: Right now they are still on top of the hill in the NFC west. However while everyone else got better they just got healthier, so it will be interesting to see if they get run down.

7.49ers: Mike Nolan has this team improving. Now they must deal with the expectations. Also can Frank Gore stay healthy for the second year since high school? How will Alex Smith handle a new play caller? Is that defense really improved? The NFC West will be some high flying games.

8.Tampa Bay I really like Tampa this year. Well I like them if they can fill in those holes on defense. Their offensive line has been built well and I think Caddy will be better off with Garcia providing at least a respectable passing game.

9.Green Bay: The defense is real good. The offense is young and the schedule starts rough. It does finish easy though and this could be the team that makes a run in the second half of the year.

10.St Louis:I was the leader of the Rams bandwagon last year. Of course when I looked behind me things got ugly. The offense will be fine, but the defense will struggle once again to stop people. I like what they are building in St Louis, but I think they will need one more draft.

11.Washington: Get ready to get burned deep. That should be the rally cry of the Redskins secondary, which is by far the worst in the NFL in pass coverage. The offense might be okay. I like Campbell, Portis and Betts should run the ball well and the recievers are servicable. If the offense can really click this team could make a run at a wild card spot.

12. Arizona: The last team I give a shot to make the playoffs. Their offensive line is still not very good, but they are trying. The defense will still be weak, expect some crazy games for the Cardinals this year.

13.Detroit: Fink said it best this is going to be air it out time all year long. They will be another fun team to watch. Has a QB ever thrown for 30 TDs and 30 INTs in a season?

14.Vikings:The defense will regress a bit. Tavaris Jackson???? Good luck to that multi-million dollar offensive line blocking 8-9 man fronts.

15.Atlanta: the upside is they won't have to deal with too much of the Michael Vick stuff once the season starts and Joey Harrington looks like he has a good grasp of the new offense. The problem is this was a 6-8 win team coming into this year.

16.Giants: They lost their best offensive player, their defense is still weak and they all hate their coach. Could it get any worse, oh they are putting more pressure on Eli Manning.

I don't know much about Wade Phillips time as a head coach, but his record of 48-42 seems like he was atleast decent. Did he inherit really good teams and underperform?

Parcells was nothing more than average in his stay at Dallas, the game appeared to have really passed him by. I doubt I'm the only Cowboy fan who's glad to see him gone.

Sluss:

bet on over/under for Giants wins at 5.5 - I'll take the over?

they don't all hate their coach, and NFL contracts aren't guaranteed, and NFL coaches are [censored] to begin with.

[/ QUOTE ]The funny thing is that when I did the math I came up with 5 wins for the Giants. I usually only bet when I get a full game.

They all hate their coach is obvious hyperbole. They no longer listen well to their coach and the locker room is divided by it. If they all hated him they might be better off at least they would have something to rally around.
