Default Very awkward MTT staking situation - What would you do?

Ok, this situation almost arose a while back and I was wondering what would you do in this situation?

I'm doing nothing on a Sunday night and a friend asks me on MSN will I play the Sunday Million ($500 one) for him as he's going drinking for the night (We live like 200 miles apart thou). We agree 50% of nett returns (so, 50% of any cash). I say ok, log into his a/c and register.

A few hours passes and we're down to the business end with 200 players left. I've txt'd him every now and again and given him updates. He comes back from the pub. Here's what could have happened (but didn't...)

He says thanks, and that he'll take over now. You know he's had 8-10 pints and even though he is an exceptional player, you feel he has drank too much. What would you do when he asks you to log out and let him play?

I would make sure that he knows he's probably going to suck - and then stand up.

I'd be impressed that he made it 200 miles to my place and would probably let him play for that reason alone.

Jaysus Flipper - that's crazy stuff. I would take you in a tournament over pretty much any other Irish player (and no matter who they are - if they have 10 pints on it isn't even close).

Problem is, the nature of tournaments (as you well know) means that you might go bust in the next 10 mins without doing a single thing wrong (which would now be your "fault"). And if you insist on playing, you will be inevitably distracted to some extent and are now probably off your best game due to an unavoidable loss of focus because of the whole thing.

The logical thing would have been for you to tell him to [censored] off; turn off your phone; and just play it out. Easier said than done though.

I can see why you didn't stick this up on Boards!!
