When was that last time you saw a \"Rock\" at your table?
IMHO rocks have evolved... there are still a few left, but overall rocks aren't what they used to be.
Discuss. |

I'd guess that a modern "rock" probably has a VPIP that is 50% higher than a rock from before the boom.

I remember playing at Soaring Eagle (pre-moneymaker). A guy in MP raised PF, everyone folded. Someone said, "aces, right?" and he turned them face-up! Whole table was like that. That was a true rock garden.
Last year at Borg (10-20) I had a Russian Rock. If he bet it was at least a set. |

Re: When was that last time you saw a \"Rock\" at your table?
In Showboat 1/2 NL, a month ago. I completed the SB with K9 of spades, and flopped a flush. Naturally he checked his option from the BB with AJ of spades. In retrospect, as I was counting out my chips after the meaningless river, I realized how silly it was to think there was a chance he was drawing with a naked ace of spades or a set. Yep, he was that tight. The good thing for me was that he was getting no action at all (at a 1/2 NL!), and had the same $150 he originally sat down with.

Re: When was that last time you saw a \"Rock\" at your table?
There was one last saturday at the Borgata 20/40. He was in the 7 seat with a shaved bald head that looked like a small limestone boulder. I am not ever gigving him another dollar of action, ever.
