Default If Empire Earth was my favorite game, what should I get?

I recently got supreme commander, and I thought it sucked and was a huge waste.

So, now I'm going back to what I know that I like. For those that don't know, Empire Earth was a history/strategy game that was ausome. It's similar to Age of Empires I guess, except it was over a grander time scale.

Also, whatever game you suggest, please make sure that it is not turnbased. I hate turnbased games with a passion.

Also, if anyone wants Supreme Commander, let me know

Thanks,

Jeff

Rise of nations is not turned based. It is awesome. Rise of Legends is pretty cool so far too, but I've only played 3 levels due to lack of time

According to the website it is:

Whichever path you choose, you’ll experience the pulse pounding thrill and speed of real-time gaming combined with the epic scope and depth of turn-based strategy games – brought together for the first time ever in Rise of Nations.

I don't want to play a game like Civilization, as I found those terrible.

Try reading that sentence one more time, buddy. They are claiming that you will experience the speed of an RTS game (it's an RTS... just like everyone is telling you) with the depth and features you usually only find in a turn-based game.

RoN is pretty fun. I didn't really enjoy RoL at all.

Yeah, Rise of Nations isn't really much like Civilization at all. It's a lot closer to Age of Empires, just with a lot more ages and research options. I like the resource model, too; more workers on a particular type of resource just increase the rate of production and you don't ever run out. To keep expansion important, they just limit the number of workers you can have on any one particular resource site, so you need multiple cities. It's also a LOT harder to try micromanaging fights; I don't want to say it's impossible, but damned if I ever figured out how to do it. The problem is that most infantry units are generated with 3 sprites, so you get these truly huge mobs of units.

A couple of things:

1) One society has as their major special ability that it takes them half as long to conquer a city - maybe the Turks? That's a big help when you're first learning. I think they also get 2 free siege weapons whenever you build one of those factories so you can crank out siege quite fast.

2) I think you really need overwhelming force, because reinforcements tend to show up. I usually don't bother trying to take a city until I've got a pretty huge army, and I'm usually also queueing up replacements for the guys who are dying in the field and setting the rally point for the city I'm trying to take.
