Playing a set Early in a multiway pot
I wanted to extract value here but was also worried about a better hand, how do you play this hand?

Re: Playing a set Early in a multiway pot
Lead flop for 125. There is more value in leading all streets then slowplaying a set here. Also with that many people in the hand and a 2-flush on the board you should be making them pay to draw on you.

Re: Playing a set Early in a multiway pot
It looks like this guy has a pair of queens. I also think its possible that he has a set, but the turn raise was pretty large for someone slowplaying a set.
All that aside, I think you should lead the flop. I find that leading into multiple opponents often causes people to go crazy with their top pair hands. Also, you want the straight and flush draws to pay. A check-raise could be a viable play as well, but I don't really like check-raising just because it shows a lot of strength, and people are likely to be more cautious on later streets. However, I have a suspicion that he had 55, or 44 here for some reason. |

Re: Playing a set Early in a multiway pot
This hand was played horribly.
Lead for 3/4-full pot on the flop Lead for 3/4-full pot on the turn Shove river Do not slowplay your monsters, you need to build a pot with your big hands to stack off people with second best hands. |

Re: Playing a set Early in a multiway pot
With that many players and the flush risk I lead strongly with bottom (or any) set.

Re: Playing a set Early in a multiway pot
What an ugly turnplay.. you call a retarded nitbet, then someone raises you and then you reraise him again.
The entire hand looks like crap to me, play agressive poker! |
