Spiderman 3 the new Godfather 3? (no spoilers)

Just rewatched Spiderman 2 after seeing 3. Doc Oct is a better villain (more tragic), and Parker was a more likable hero.

The whole angsty symbiote line didn't feel right, felt like a running joke, and the whole fight at the end reeked of Generation Xtreme-ism.

Okay, it wasn't Godfather 3 bad, just meant it was a disappointing showing, especially compared to the first two.

Comparing Venom to Oct (keeping in mind I haven't read the comics), he was incredibly one-dimensional which makes the entire conflict with Spiderman incredibly one-dimensional.

On the up side, I will say there was one great comedic moment (good funny, not "so bad it's funny"). I can't remember where it was though (It might have been Bruce's cameo).

The negative reviews don't say it's awful, and the positive reviews don't say it's great. I haven't seen it, but my guess it that it is a competently created movie that doesn't come together very well, but still contains elements worthwhile enough to please a fan, or at least mildly entertain someone who is indifferent.

This is impossible because the first one was awful. I'm still not sure if it was a joke or not. The acting is terrible especially Dunst and Dafoe; the action looks like Power Rangers; and it was basically ridiculous from start to finish. I didn't even want to see the second one but luckily it turned out to be pretty awesome (although on repeated viewings I still find it a little hokey).

To second Jiggymike's inference, this comparison is WAY off, because to be accurate the 1st and 2nd would have had to be classics, i.e., close to the top of the best cinema ever. 1 completely, and 2 was just meh.

It's interesting that you say that because (and I'm no movie or comic buff) #2 was widely lauded as the best superhero movie of all time. I believe Roger Ebert even referred to it as such.
