Default Re: preflop quiz

Since this is 6-max I either raise limpers or fold. I will not limp behind with any hand. Getting the initiative against someone who doesn't value his hand enough to raise with is profitable at NL25.

Depending on table conditions I raise all of the unraised situations above with the exception of sc below 56, which I raise only when opening in LP.

I call a raise in front of me only with pp or big suited aces and AKo.

some interesting answers. I'm not surprised by the variety, because we all play different games. How about blind play?

From SB with raiser from MP
1. KJs, QJs, ATs
2. Suited connectors 78+
3. Suited connectors 23+
4. 22-66
5. Suited aces (lower than ATs)

From BB with raiser from MP
6. KJs, QJs, ATs
7. Suited connectors 78+
8. Suited connectors 23+
9. 22-66
10. Suited aces (lower than ATs)

I'll call with the small pps if I'm getting reasonable implied odds based on the range I put my opponent on and his style but other than that all these hands play horribly out of position and without the initiative.

From the blinds against a raise I only call with pp, AK, AQs, fold the rest (assuming it is a real raise. I call or re-raise minraises sometimes).

Also, although you didn't ask this: I have maybe completed my sb twice in the last 1000 hands and I can't think of a hand with which I would do this.

A West Cost supporter here!

Personally, I would not play low/mid suited connectors against a raiser from MP, unless there are a lot of callers. Reads are just too important at NL 6-max, it's very hard to discuss preflop strategy without them.

See here's the thing. Preflop is just what leads you in to postflop play, and my preflop tendancies are geared to putting me in specific postflop situations. That is, my preflop game is postflop oriented. For new players, short stacks or tourney situations this range might not work because those games are almost 100% preflop. What's more my preflop game is very dependant on what my opponents' tendanccies are, so any attempt to reduce my PF game to a sile series of if-then rules will fail.

That said, here's a starting point.

Well, there go the keys to the safe.

FWIW, my FR isn't much different if you read the above as MP and beyond, then for EP just shave out SCs and Axs on all but the more passive tables (shave the #1s from UTG/UTG+1 too).
