Am I the only one that doesn't want Joe Girardi?

FREE DAVEY JOHNSON!

edit: btw, McPhail resigning is much more important than Baker, imo.

Wasn't Dusty Baker considered the best manager in baseball by a lot of people just a few years ago?

Am I remembering this wrong?

He was OK in my book until the 2002 World Series when he took Russ Ortiz out of Game 6 when he hadn't even given up a run yet. He even called him back to the mound to give him the game ball.

Worst decision ever.

That is what makes him the worst manager ever. My father is the biggest SF Giant fan I know, and when he did that he almost started crying. He said right there if he were on the Angels there was no way he would lose the World series. And I couldn't agree with him more. That maybe was the worst Managerial decision ever.

SI.com reported in their Truth and Rumors that the Cubs were close to resigning Ramirez. What's everyone'e thoughts on Pierre? Should we resign or should we move Jones to Center and try to sign a big bopper, which would leave Theriot to hit leadoff?

Kerry Wood came up with bad mechanics and blew out his arm before Baker got there. Which of Prior's problems are due to Baker, the line drive off his elbow or the achilles in spring training?

I'm sure a half way decent manager would have only lost 93 games with the Cubs this year.

B.

edit: theriot is not a good hitter. maybe the new manager will realize that and not be fooled by a sample size like neifi's cub debut.

best case is probably signing ray durham and maybe a center fielder whose option gets declined (edmonds or hunter) or maybe lofton? there's a decent pool of starting pitchers out there, but they will all get overpaid. if prior is healthy (go ahead and laugh), a front three of zambrano-prior-hill can carry a mediocre back end.

then again...nah. it's the cubs.
