A beet? On a sandwich? Hell no, never had that.

Might be the only 1,000-calorie item I've never eaten.

Hungry Jacks is the Australian version of Burger King...

Oooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh.

Yeah, I've had it. Way way way too much of it.

[/ QUOTE ]

I still bet that you never had the American Burger though...

It is kind of fitting because it's some 1000+ calorie monstrosity...

I remember it had a beet (which is popular on sandwiches over there) and an egg on it.

[/ QUOTE ]

Dude, that would be the Aussie burger.

Another point of difference for you, Dan. We don't generally call burgers sandwiches.

Edit: And "beet" = "beetroot"

If anyone tries a "Pittsburgh left" in front of me, I'm hitting them, then suing them. [censored] that [censored]. That's totally ridiculous.

[/ QUOTE ]

I love the Pittsburgh left. Huge fan. I do it even if it's not necessary (only 1 car coming at me). Other than the Pens, Steelers and the few friends I've made here it might be my favorite thing about Pittsburgh.

There are a few things that (as they would say here) need pointed out.

1. If done properly you would have to try really hard to hit the person to do it. The lefter should start when the light is red and barely, if at all, slow you down. If done perfectly the only way you could hit them would be to also (illegally) start early as well or be driving a drag racer. I should also point out that I have seen people pull a Pittsburgh left with a cop at the intersection with no consequence even though they enter the intersection when their light is red.

2. Here the equilibrium is for the left to happen. People going straight usually wait for it so it's actually inefficient to not do it. For this reason, and point 1, I've never been close to getting hit.

3. I can think of a total of 3 or 4 intersections that have a left arrow. If you don't pull a Pittsburgh left or go after your light turns yellow/red then you are never going to be able to turn left. Coming from Oregon I found both the Pittsburgh left and the rarity of left turn arrows to be amazing. Causality is not clear, but there clearly the two things are correlated. Having said that, when we drove through Utah on the trip over (recall the picture game) the town we went through had no arrows and they didn't left it. They did go after their light had turned yellow though.

Also for the OP it's light.

If you don't have a left arrow then you should pull into the intersection while your light is green and complete your turn as soon as possible. If you're still in the intersection when the light is red then it's because the oncoming traffic ran a red light to prevent you from completing your turn legally at yellow.

I accidentally took a left on red in LA because I was stressed out and accustomed to intersections where you get left arrows before people get to go straight, so when I saw something turn green I went and cut off the incoming traffic. =P

I've seen Coronas in Mexico... admittedly in the tourist traps that are Cancun's bars.

Dos Equis is the best Mexican beer

I know a Mexican couple here who both drink Corona. Mainly her, but he does sometimes as well. Granted this is in Pittsburgh but I would still assume most places would have a bottle of some other Mexican beer available.

There are precisely zero good American beers. Discuss.
