Ugh, why can't Dallas ever drive the ball against this team?

[/ QUOTE ]

I gotta say, I LOVE seeing Devin out of control and getting called for charges. I like him a lot, but karma's a bitch you flopping douchebag.

[/ QUOTE ]

If Devin Harris is a flopping douchebag, what's Steve Nash?

Kidd better overall.

[/ QUOTE ]

No. Not really close either IMO.

[/ QUOTE ]

Career wise, Kidd has def been better. Past 3 years, I give Nash the edge, but it's somewhat close. I think you underestimate what 8 rebounds a game from the guard spot + defense can mean to a game. Basically, I don't think the Suns win much less games if you trade Nash for Kidd straight up. Probably 2-3, which is obv important.

[/ QUOTE ]

C'mon. Last 3 years is *not* close. Career is still Kidd, but that's not the discussion.

I'm obviously copping out cause I don't have the heart to argue something that to me is really obvious, but the last 3 years, Nash has out pointed Kidd in MVP voting 1,066-0, 1,013-0 and 924-0. Kidd hasn't gotten a single vote in the last 3 years (voters vote down to 5th place). Obviously not the be all end all, but it's pretty telling in this case IMO.

oh yeah.. media hype has nothing to do with that. Kidd, who probably should've won an MVP 5 years ago, quietly had has best season ever last season.

I'll concede that it's probably not *that* close, but I don't think Nash has been a whole tier over Kidd. Hell, I still think it's somewhat close. Kidd is a huge favorite in terms of rebounds, steals, and turnovers. Those stats mean something.

I just did a quick little calculation of last season using b-ref's #s. I used pace factor, MPG, and TO/game to figure out TO/poss for each. Kidd averaged .0375 TOs/poss. Nash averaged .0539. In layman's terms, Nash averaged 3.8 TOs per game playing 35 MPG. Kidd averaged 1.8 playing a little under 37 mpg. Using the pace factor stat, I calculated that Kidd averaged about 2 more possessions per game than Nash.

Obviously Nash's sick shooting (from anywhere) is a big bonus over Kidd. But you can't ignore stuff like TOs, rebounds, and steals.

I'd be really interested to see what would happen to NJ and PHX last season if Kidd and Nash swapped teams. I'm inclined to guess Kidd's teams would end up ahead in the differential.

Kidd also plays Rondo-esque defense.

I don't recall Ford beasting Kidd, but I'll check some old box scores to be sure.

I loved that play where Harris turned the ball over because he flopped and Davis just took the loose ball.

one of the following is true about ben wallace:

1. he is injured.
2. he did NOTHING all summer.

i'm inclined to believe the former. his skills have diminished, but no one goes from elite defender/rebounder to scrub like he has.

watched some of bulls game tonight at work. from what i saw, TT is actually a lot better than i thought he was.

still think the size thing could be an issue against certain teams, but i definitely think he has josh smith potential.
