Auschwitz Concentration Camp - few places I've been have had this kind of lasting impression. When you go, you'll see all kinds of displays, and you'll think to yourself "how horrible..." At some point though, one display will really hit you - each person I talked to mentioned a different display. At some point, chills will roll down your spine, and you'll be overwhelmed by it all. It will finally hit you as to what really happened there. I'm glad I went, and I'm never going again.

Bull fight in Madrid. Probably the one thing I did in Europe that had the biggest impression on me. I no longer eat beef and a number of other meats. It was so hard to watch the whole thing but I'm glad I did. Truly a unique experience.

Re: Places/Events/Festivals/Things/etc that are worth doing atleast once
i heard that chinese new year in hong kong is pretty cool. for the holy [censored] factor, all you non bay area people should check out the sf pride parade, folsom street fair or halloween in the castro (actually, that one's pretty much for anyone under, say, 25). this is doubly true if you're from the midwest.
lots of people who visit hawaii like to do the sunrise at haleakala thing, but i think it's more impressive from the water while on a body boarding dawn patrol at makapuu beach. another good hawaii one, if you're into that thing, is the snowboard/surf daily double on mauna kea and one of the kona or hilo breaks. on a personal note, i really want to check out the maine lobster festival some day. |

snorkel Great Barrier Reef (not yet) [/ QUOTE ] Why not scuba dive? Snorkeling is fun, but scuba diving is totally different experience. Feeling of weightlessness and being able to move to any direction is worth to try at least once even though you can't control yourself that well on your first dive. NP: Helmet - Turned Out |

I'm not going to list, but basicly all adrenaline sports are worth doing.
Even the fatasses who've never done any sports should challenge their poker buddy or the geek in the next cubicle for a boxing match at least once in their life. NP: Napalm Death - Night Of Pain |

World Cup Soccer [/ QUOTE ] I really want to do this, but considering that if I did it in 2010 it would require spending a week in South Africa I guess I'll have to push it back until I'm 30. Ugh. |

If you guys have never spent a night in east st louis, drinking at the shadiest bar you can find, you should, it teaches you a lot, in that, when it comes down to it, things are really not as dangerous as people make them out to be. Also, soulard mardi gras at dusk, is like a big drunken outdoor UFC fight, with no cops and lots of drunks beating eachother up on every street corner, this is fun if you are into that sort of thing.
