not joking at all---Illinois is #3 in the big11ten. I'll accept an argument for other teams, especially MSU, but none has a hands down argument over Illinois. The differentiation is very small between all those teams, yet the seeding was a huge differenece....kind of a joke. MSU's big non-conf win was over a very young Texas team early in the year that was still finding its way IU's big non-conf win was @ UConn and pretty much a yawn everywhere else Illinois has more road/nuetral wins over NCAA teams than the other 3 combined [/ QUOTE ] Myturn, you got the best draw of all the teams. You are in the bracket. The complaining is beyond old at this point. |

Va Tech is going to be a real challenge for Illinois. I'll be impressed if they can stay close with the Hokies (the 2.5 line notwithstanding). |

Re: **** OFFICIAL**** My team got screwed by the committee thread
Despite being a 12 seed, I think IL has the easiest road to the sweet 16 of all aforementioned Big Ten teams. As an IL fan, I am quite pleased with their seed and the teams the could face in the first two rounds. I would love a UI/SIU match up in the second round. Of course, they will really need to pull it together to overcome VT.

Re: **** OFFICIAL**** My team got screwed by the committee thread
KSU probably isn't one of the "top teams" that screwed, but they have made some lists. I'll make a half-assed argument for them.
KSU in over Arkansas? KSU was 10-6 in the crappy Big 12 North. Arkansas was 7-9 in the crappy SEC West. KSU "avenged" one of its poor losses (to New Mexico). Arkansas was 0-3 against the Big 12, including getting drubbed by a weak Missouri team. KSU beat all the Big 12 teams Arkansas lost to. Arkansas only had 3 road wins on the season. KSU had 7 road wins on the season. |

Syracuse: First 10-6 team out of the Big East not to make the tournament ever. 3-2 against RPI top 25. Wins against Georgetown, @Providence, Villanova, @Marquette. No loss all season by more than 12 points, with the 12 point loss to ND the only one in double digits. Higher in the Big East standings than both Marquette and Villanova who are in. Pathetic. [/ QUOTE ] Yep, this about sums it up Also, if Syracuse deserves to get in, and they clearly do, then Drexel also deserves to be in. How the hell does Arkansas get in before these teams? Illinois? Stanford? Texas Tech? (last two to a smaller extent) Syracuse, Florida St. and Drexel are all better teams. Not to mention Kansas St has to be included in this debate somewhere, even though their NC SOS is atrocious. |

[ QUOTE ] Montana should have gotten in.....to the women's tournament. Come on, 27-3's not good enough to sneak in as a 12 seed? What else do they have to do? On the men's side, the only legitimate snubs I see are Clemson (no one's talking about them, but they have the best overall resume of anyone who missed the tourney), Missouri State, and Florida State. [/ QUOTE ] clemson faced a ridiculously difficult schedule in their last 14 games...12 of their last 14 were against teams in the Top 40 of the Sagarin index! [/ QUOTE ] By contrast, Old Dominion only faced four teams in the Top 50 of the Sagarin ratings all season and finished with a record of 1-3 against such teams. So to recap, we have: Clemson Record vs. Sagarin Top 50: 7-9 Record vs. others: 14-1 Old Dominion Record vs. Sagarin Top 50: 1-3 Record vs. others: 23-5 Looks to me like Clemson's significantly better in both categories. They shouldn't be punished just because they're schedule's backloaded. |

I don't see Syracuse not getting in at all...I figured they were a complete lock. That was my one real "shock."

Re: **** OFFICIAL**** My team got screwed by the committee thread
You can't collapse and get in the tourney. See Air Force for evidence of this. Clemson didn't deserve to get in.

Re: **** OFFICIAL**** My team got screwed by the committee thread
Air Force collapsed. They lost to 3 sub-100 teams in their last 3 games. Clemson didn't lose to a sub-100 team all year long. At the end of the regular season, they finished with back-to-back wins including a road win over eventual 5 seed Virginia Tech, and then lost a heartbreaker to Florida State on a very questionable call at the end of the game.
