so if your bonus gets deducted...does that mean its completely worthless?

It's never useless, because when bonus is deducted at a site, it is deducted from your MGR, NOT you rakeback. In other words, if you raked $1,000 in a month while clearing a $200 bonus, you get rakeback on the remaining $800.
