delaware electronic poker tables?

I was riding a bus this weekend from NY to DC, and from the I-95 I saw a billboard that advertised "Electronic Poker Tables" at Delaware Park.

Can anyone verify this? My quick search on the internet finds no references to live poker in DE, I was just wondering if anyone had any more info.

These is no poker at the casinos in Delaware. Only poker authorized in Delaware is those offered by "organizations for the purpose of raising funds, by certain nonprofit organizations, for the promotion of charitable or civic purposes" (Fraternal Orgainzations, Volunteer Fire Departments, etc.).

Closest you will get to poker in a casino is video poker, or the "Texas Hold'em" electronic table game that is similar to the table game you would find on the Atlantic City casino floor.

Do they actually have any of that "firehouse poker" in Delaware? I know they used to have it in Maryland, but I think they stopped several years ago, not sure why.

I haven't seen the electronic Texas Hold'em Bonus game, but I've only been to Delaware Park. All they have is blackjack, three-card poker, and Let It Ride. They also have an electronic roulette machine.

Yes, it is all over the place. You can almost find a tournament every weekend in Delaware. Each "non-profit organization/charity" is allow to operate up to 4 tournaments a year.

Mostly the standard buy-in is $100 with 2 $25 rebuys. I do not know what the blind structure/time is.

I know they have it at Dover Downs. Not sure about Harrington, but I want to say no. I am quite suprised Delaware Park does not have it yet.

I know Maryland shut down the firehouse blackjack because those running the games were skimming the hell out of them. I played at them a couple of times. St. Georges county, I believe it was.

I live just inside the PA side of the PA/DE border. A country club just inside the DE state line used to run a great "charity" tournament once a month that would draw well over 100 players. First prize was usually over $5,000. The club took no money from the game, but did sell alcohol and food.

After a few months of running the game, the club got a letter from the Delaware Liquor Control Board threatening to take away the club's liquor license unless it stopped hosting the game. The club complied.

Even worse, the members used to run a monthly tournament in the mens' cardroom that was a $75 buyin and usually drew about 30-50 players. All of the buyin money was returned to the players. Total donkfest and very easy money. After receiving the LCB threat, the club even shut down these completely private events.

Shame on Delaware, especially if enforcement is selective to prop up organizations that the state likes, like firehalls.
