Default Funniest Book you\'ve ever read

Ok, I searched this forum back as far as I could for the phrase 'funniest book' in the subject line and found nothing. So flame away, but I tried. I nominate:

Disco Bloodbath - James St. James

Vonnegut style writing, but taken to a beautiful extreme in my view. I thought my drug stories were impressive. But I put myself at a 1.5 on a scale where these guys are 10. Scary as hell, but somehow the funniest damn thing I've ever read. "Oops, anal leakage, gotta go". Another part he talks about how all the club kids have f-ed up childhoods. He says, I could go on about all that...

But really

(In it's own paragraph)

Ok, I'm not doing it justice at all. But, funny book, trust me, the weird Wes Craven comment on the jacket notwithstanding.

The movie (Party Monster) tried, but couldn't really do it justice. Plus I don't think McAuley Culkin or Seth Green could remotely begin to pull off way-way-over the top characters like that. Not sure who except themselves could.

When I was done reading the book I was deeply and truly sad that I wasn't going to get to spend anymore time with those characters. My first reaction was I wanted to find a way to contact James St. James and tell him thank you. I loaned the book to my friend, and she had the exact same two reactions.

I think it's gotta be Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Or "Ishmael"

Joe Queenan's "Confessions of a Cineplex Heckler" had me howling on the subway (and I hate being That Guy Who Laughs Reading Books In Public).

This is going to be a very useful thread. I need more hilarious reading material.

1. All the best parts of Terry Pratchett. He has about 3 or 4 serious rofls per book.
2. PG Wodehouse, but only after 2 books in a row.
3. John Stewarts book (but that is cheating, probably)...
4. Of course, the funniest man alive, PJ O'Rourke. If you hate his politics, get Modern Manners and re-read it until you are dead. It is my bible.

Supposedly funny writers that I found quite meh:

1. David Sedaris
2. Evelen Waugh
3. TC Boyle

Confederacy of Dunces and the Hitchhiker's Guide series are easy tops.

While Confederacy of Dunces was very good, I thought Catch 22 was more humorous.
