i figured he could have some goofy medium spade here and firing twice makes him fold. ok/not ok?

It's decent. It requires him either having teh ace of spades or being able to fold like the Jack of spades. It's usually spew because it's $1/2 and nobody folds.

I'd bet $34-37 if the board didn't pair. As played i c/f the river. I assume when you bet the turn you knew you were firing the river?
