Jesus, he just wanted a few ideas. He wasnt asking for someone to come in and manage the room. I thought this was a forum to ask questions and hopefully receive good advice.

It is, but this is also a casino that was embraced by the online community and they decided to eliminate poker. Find posts I made between June 99 and March 01 and you will see that the Stratosphere was very popular in the online community (hosting special events for RGPers etc). In Feb 2001 Nolan Dalla summed up what a lot of people were thinking about them (you will find what he said at the time if you search RGP for my name in the title at that time).

I did some digging, links below. Mods, feel free to delete if I shouldn't have posted these. Thanks.

Of course nobody gets banned for acting rude or being misinformed

I have also been a victim of TT's banning power. A couple of months ago I got a 24 hr ban for commenting that the V was having a tournament upcoming and that I was excited.

Chao, do yourself a favor and don't listen to most people on this forum, all they are going to tell you is, "Put the 5/10 NL game on the rail" or "Buy Mason's book".

You were given some great ideas, such as playing the final table on top of the strat (I don't know if it is logistically possible, though).

To the nitwit who said they wouldn't play in a $100 tournament with 17% juice, please stop talking. Most tournaments in the 80-200 dollar range are, AT LEAST, 15-20%. It is not until you get to the 300-1000 range can you find 10-15%.

Even the place that everyone 'loves', the Bellagio charges almost 12% and that doesn't count the 3% witheld for the staff. Chao, your juice is fine.

Be very carful as to who you listen to and as to what ideas you adopt because many poker players (and consultants) don't have a clue and have their own agenda.

And you were the other shill of the V. I told you then, its not cool - and why you earned a very short suspension (12 hours if I recall correctly). Your welcome to be a productive member of the community of course and then nothing like this would ever happen, just don't use the forum to advertise for the V and all is fine - there is a fee for advertising, its not free.

Given you're location and clientele, I believe you'll have to cater the tournaments to attract locals. Reasonable buyin with a blinds rising slowly to start, so that everyone gets some entertainment value for their money.
As you establish a base you can try a little bigger buy tournament and see what the respones is.

It took 23 posts by other than the OP for someone just to give the guy a little advice. NEVADAKAZ, thank you for helping the guy out without playing GOD or trying to stand on a pedistal like so many people ( cough cough ) try to do on here.

Jesus, he just wanted a few ideas. He wasnt asking for someone to come in and manage the room. I thought this was a forum to ask questions and hopefully receive good advice.

Why is everything in the forum centered around buying Mason's books or hiring TT to consult? I think I just threw up a little bit in my mouth....

Thank you once again NEVADAKAZ for helping the guy out.

If you guys dont hear from me it is because TT suspended me from this forum. He does that when people dont agree with what he says...

Quite Frankly putting the poker room in the same area as the topless pool might be a good idea and I think it was a serious suggestion.

1) You are providing a service that no other casino in Las Vegas has. Poker and boobies.

The pros are happy because the fish are distracted by such boobies.

The fish are happy because they get to see boobies.

Females providing drinks will be tipped more making employee's happy leading to a general increase in morale.

Quite frankly having a dealer that was topless might even be a better draw for the poker room.

You cannot beat the other well located and established poker rooms at their game.

BUT

You can change the game.

With a little advertisement one hell of a gimmick your poker room could become the hottest thing in vegas.

Your tagline could be like......

Come play poker at the Stratosphere.... Where you don't have to play with boobs (as in a poker donkey) but you can look at them all you want !!!!!!!!!!!!

While most of you think i'm crazy I personally find a gimmick like this a MAJOR draw to the type of touristy player the strat is looking for. And the more tourists come to play poker with topless women the more sharks are going to come after them.

It's a win, win for EVERYONE

Thanks for asking for our suggestions.

Here are my thoughts:

-Take advantage of the tower. Whenever someone I know comes to Vegas, I usually end up taking them to the top of the tower. Most of my friends who visit want to play some low-limit poker, but we never end up playing at the Stratosphere even if we are already there. Since the tower is the Stratosphere's only real tourist draw, if there was some poker room advertising up there you might be able to pull poker players like me and my visiting friends into the room after going to the top of the tower.

-Try out some gimmicks. As it stands, there's no real reason to play poker at the Stratosphere. It doesn't offer anything that other low-limit rooms don't offer better, but you can change that by offering up some things that nobody else does. For example, I've heard of cardrooms holding bounty tournaments where the traditional prize structure is abandoned and instead you win cash for each player you knock out of the tourney. These tournaments sound like a lot of fun, but I've never played in one because I've never seen them offered before. I'm not claiming that bounty tournaments will make or break your room, but if you try out enough fresh ideas you might hit upon some things that will bring customers into your room.

Good luck...

What you mean is you really really liked my idea in the post right above this and think it's a real money maker. I guess I should copyright stuff before I post it

Good luck...
