Party 22$ ITM
28 players left out of 855. I have about double the average. Vilain has just joined the table. Played only one hand and he open-raised it.
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t (9 handed) internettexasholdem.com UTG+1 (t169308) MP1 (t28159) MP2 (t64476) MP3 (t53242) CO (t126476) Button (t95970) SB (t19928) Hero (t134616) UTG (t124476) Preflop: Hero is BB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. 5 folds, CO raises to t18000, 2 folds... I have to suspect a steal and Q8s seems like a good hand to defend with. I thought about re-raising to 45k, but didn't want to commit too many chips against another big stack. I decided to just call and check-raise any flop. Hero calls t12000. Flop: (t30000) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, CO bets t15000 I hit my 8, I'm happy, but this is a coordinated flop. Should I abort or go forward with the check-raise plan? Maybe just call and see what develops? I decided to go ahead with the check-raise, it was a scary flop for me, but there's a good chance it was as scary for him. Hero raises to t45000, CO calls t30000. Turn: (t120000) K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) I really hate the call and I really hate the turn. Should I give up at this point? I have about 70k left... I really hoped he wasn't on the flush draw and fired again. Hero bets t45000, CO calls t45000. Was it a good amount, should I just go all-in at this point? River: (t210000) Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero calls [t32516] , CO calls [t18376] . Final Pot: t210000 Well, I hit two pair, hopefully he doesn't have a diamond there... at this point, there is no other decision, right? I can't just keep 32k and try to rebuild, can I? thanks in advance for any feedback you can give on this hand. |

Re: Party 22$ ITM
i defend it preflop and lead out for 22,000 or so. my other choice is check call the flop and make him fire the second barrel or have a go at it if I pick up a draw.
i dont like the cr because you are swelling the pot with a marginal hand. i'm not sure what the cr does that leading out doesn't do. after he calls and the kd comes off, i am check folding that turn. that is a pretty brutal card for you. at the point you got to the river you can't get away. what range of hands did you put him on after he called the flop cr? |

[/ QUOTE ] I'm a big fan of blind battles, but hero has double avg chip and even chips with villain. Is it really necessary to take a blind battle vs unknown villain at this stage? He just arrived after all. |

Re: Party 22$ ITM
Fold preflop.
Without read, I don't know, this flop is tricky. Probably lead because any option following a check kinda sucks, there's a different problem with folding, calling and raising. If you lead you can fold to a raise. When that turn cmes just c/f it. You are committing yourself way too much with 3rd pair oop w/o reads. On a pretty scary board. The river, bluff a small diamond? Bluff better two pair? Bluff a straight? Value bet top pair? I'm lost. |

Re: Party 22$ ITM
With no prior knowledge of the villain I'm giving him credit here for a strong hand until I have sufficient experience with him to make me believe otherwise. Also, Q8s isn't a hand I look forward to playing OOP against an unknown opponent, and particularly one who started the aggression.
The way it was played, I will probably lead the flop and check/fold the turn. I can't agree with the 45,000 bet here at all. There is no need to get overly attached to this pot and 70k is plenty to play with if you just give up on it. |

Re: Party 22$ ITM
Fold pf, let him have this one and hope he makes a mental note, so next time when you defend with a pf re raise he goes away.

Re: Party 22$ ITM
folding PF is the best option, but given where you got, just push the turn.
