Stay away from these, as the area isn't the greatest:

Days Inn & Suites Louisville Southwest (approx. 4.4miles – 2 stars)
4051 Cane Run Road AAA approved
Louisville, KY 40216

Best Western Dixie Inn (approx. 4.6 miles – not rated)
1735 Stewart Avenue
Louisville, KY 40216

Holiday Inn Southwest (approx 5.0 miles – 3 stars)
4110 Dixie Highway
Louisville, KY 40216

Super 8 Motel Louisville/expo Center Area (approx. 7.8 miles – 2 stars)
101 Central Avenue
Louisville, KY 40209

-----------------------------------

These two are fine. I would recommend the Hampton over the Holiday Inn:

Hampton Inn New Albany (approx. 8.1 miles – not rated)
506 West Spring Street
New Albany, IN 47150

Holiday Inn Express Louisville-NW At New Albany, In (approx. 8.2 miles – 2 Stars)
411 West Spring Street
New Albany, IN 47150
National 888-HOLIDAY (888-465-4329)
Hotel Front Desk (812-945-2771)

Also make sure to take extra special care of the dealer named Tom.

Thank you VERY MUCH! This is exactly the kind of information I am interested in.
That's right... ending a sentence with a preposition is A-O-K in my book.)

Tom "The Pimp"? He likes high quality cigars but gratuities large enough to purchase said high quality cigars are also acceptable.

NOTE: This is an inside joke and not intended to ignite a tipping flame war.

I probably won't make it Saturday. Looks like I am out of town all day. If I don't get to go out of town, I'll show up at Caesar's in the late afternoon or early evening.

Yes, just ask to see the back of my badge and I'll know you came from this thread. Steamboatin knows the power of a fine cigar as a gratuity.

snuffdip, how can you be found?

I'll be there Saturday. Sorry Steamboatin might not make it, but I'd like to meet at least one other 2+2er who I didn't know before I joined.

My description is earlier in the thread

I wouldn't say this is a bad area of town. This really isn't near a residential area. The stadium is on one side, and some restaurants surround it. That said, if you're looking to spend some time at Caesars it really makes a lot more sense to cut your daily commute in half by staying in New Albany.

Steamboatin, sent you a PM. It was great to meet you, too. I was up a few hundred, but not as much as Steamboatin, and it took me a lot longer

Stayed at the Motel 6 in Georgetown. What can I say, it's a Motel 6. However, the manager (Bonnie?) was very nice. Worth saving more than $100 for the 20-minute drive. (Saved about $50 compared to staying in New Albany for an extra 8 minutes.)

The back route during the day was really pretty -- well, the way I went was. I did get lost, but managed to find my way. Missed the first turn because of a freak rainstorm. I could barely see the road in front of me. Took main roads at night, and it was fine.

Didn't make it to the gyro place, but I have that to look forward to on the next trip.

Hope to meet you next time, Tom.

Had a wedding this weekend, so I wasn't at work. Feel free to let me know the next time you are coming in.
