Default $110,000 misclick beat.

A friend of mine is a sort of recreational horse bettor.

The biggest race each year in Melbourne is the Melbourne cup, which happened last week.

My friend placed a trifecta bet online for $100 at 1100 to 1. He watched the race and to his elation his trifecta came in, the biggest score of his life by far at $110,000. Then he looked at his ticket and realized by some mistake in his concentration or mouse clicking, he had bet the wrong last horse.

Careful with those misclicks people.

I called him that day with no idea. Told him it'd been a rough day at the office, had gone out deep in some tournaments blah blah. He's like "yours can't possibly be worse than mine." Then launches into that story.

Diane Chambers: So, why don't you go to the bookie and tell him that you honestly intended to wager on the winning teams and see if he won't give you the money.

Sam Malone: That's a good idea. While I'm at it, why don't I just tell him that I meant to bet on all the winning teams since 1975?

Diane Chambers: Can you do that?

$100 on a trifecta bet?! Did he box it or did he just do it 1-2-3 straight?

I don't know enough on horse betting to answer that question but i'll ask him for you. Unless he randomly decided to make this up and act miserable for the next few days i'm not sure why it'd be a fake.

Knowing horse bettors I do believe it is more likely that he didn't missclick, but since he was so close between different options of 3rd horse that he might even believe he wanted that combination.

I have seen that happen plenty of times, even seen people fill in horses later to make believe they are close to a win.
