I watched the episode last night, and my impression of OP was tight nitty and boring. (I did not know OP was 2+2, just a stranger) I read OP's post and see his explanation of why, but producers made the right decision based on the facts they had at the time.
OP could have thought less of maximazing poker EV and more about promoting himself as a 'fun' player.
You showed no personality at all at the table, if you ever get to a FT or another shot at TV, prepare and have some material you can do to get some airtime.
If you have that in you, might not be for you.

Me either. I guess I've always thought the other one was Phil when reading his posts.

A good player like him can play something else like nitty, its not like when he opens a bit more hands he suddenly drops a hundred grand because of it

From an "outsider's" (no idea who Jman is) point of view, this thread leaves a seriously bad taste in my mouth towards the OP. Comes off extremely self-righteously. He bought in min, played like a nit and they decided to replace him with an ostensibly more interesting player - it's a shame he never got to put his master plan or whatever into action, but it's pretty easy to see HSP's point of view here. I can't imagine anybody affiliated with HSP who happened to wander into this thread would view the OP in a much more positive light either. Doesn't seem like the smartest idea posting this in terms of chances of getting back on the show. But it sure was a fun read, so I'm happy you did.

[/ QUOTE ]

I completely agree with everything you said.

The player came off like a nit because he *was* a nit. According to his own calculations he was only playing 10% of his hands, and only was in the game for about 40 hands. This means he was keeping more than a full rebuy in his pocket when he was only planning to play 4 pots, total, on day 2. A reasonable player would've bought in for the spare $220 and just got up from his seat if he went busto, but was still scheduled for day 3.

And even if raptor lists it as 1200bbs, the fact remains that 1.44 min-buyins is short.

Hopefully you'll learn something from this, but I'm guessing you won't. Nit.

we see Humberto, Mrs Laak Tilly, Mouth, Sooky girl Hellmouth etc with zero class, zero style as the main proponents.......guys that have a brain and intelligence like van Alstyne etc are pushed into the background.....

[/ QUOTE ]

Are you watching the same games I am?

I see tons of successful businessmen (like Humberto), lots of people with degrees and experience in difficult, analytical fields (Laak was Mech Eng), and lots of Ivy Leaguers.

People can be smart without being quiet.

If he is maximizing his poker EV, don't go on a poker show. Certainly there is better table selection than where the criteria for being selected to join the table is that you are entertaining. This is a TV show, and obviously they want to maximize their advertising EV. That means people with personalities.

Girlfriend was flipping channels the other night and I caught the very end of it, Hellmuth whining something along the lines of "XXXXX was gonna bring in XXXX the rich guy but he finds the nittiest guy alive" and then a shot of Jman whipping his head around in shock, sucks.

Crappy situation, too bad it couldn't work out better for everyone.
