200NL: SNG player lost in +300BB land.
Ok, easy fold right. But, before you say that, make sure you see the size of the BB's stack and know that he's 81/12/4. Ie, very bad.
UTG is a TAG. Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $2 BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) BB ($1416.22) UTG ($432) MP ($213.15) Hero ($658.80) SB ($121.46) Preflop: Hero is Button with 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $1. <font color="#CC3333">UTG raises to $8</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, Hero calls $8, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, BB calls $6. I don't hate a call here on the button, unless you think its reasonably likely that the fish raises with you sandwiched in the middle. Against the decent player you have a chance to bet at scare cards with position and if you hit on the turn your hand would be very well disguised.
That said you only have 3 clean outs. |

Like dd said, against a decent player you maybe can float here and bluff clubs if one hits. But, against this guy, I'd fold here and do the proverbial wait for a better spot. Preflop is good given the stacks.

AJ, the agressor in this pot (UTG) is a decent player. The terrible opponent is in the BB and still left to act.

In that case, I don't like the PF call as much, but w/e, UTG has a decent stack too. More of a fold, now that I can read the hand right. You got a gutshot, this ain't limit, and you don't want to risk the float when the loose guy might come along, so you'll just be burning $17 almost always. |

why do you think that if you hit your 3 outer that the BB will pay you off?

My reasoning for calling preflop, was that this is a hand that has potential to flop big or at least a big draw. I figure a TAG raising UTG with >200BBs is as good as spot as any to call with this hand. This is pretty much the worst hand I'm calling with here. I wouldn't normally call this raise if UTG A) didn't have a tight range and B) didn't have significantly more than 100BBs. I was under the impression that the conditions present preflop here, was a good spot to be calling with speculative hands? |

Re: 200NL: SNG player lost in +300BB land.
This is definately not a fold. A call is probably decent, but a raise is hot. I don't understand why everyone wants to fold when your deep, have position, and can bluff a ton of scare cards. If BB calls you definately should just be looking for you 3 outer, but you have implied odds for that(it might be a 4 outer fwiw) and if he doesn't, I think I like a raise on almost any turn card.
